Archipelago Sea

The Archipelago Sea is a part of the Baltic Sea between the Gulf of Bothnia, the Gulf of Finland and the Sea of Åland, within Finnish territorial waters. By some definitions it contains the largest archipelago (island group) in the world by the number of islands, although many of the islands are very small and tightly clustered.

 

Haadetkeidas Strict Nature Reserve

Häädetkeidas Strict Nature Reserve is a strict nature reserve located in the Pirkanmaa and Satakunta regions of Finland. This thick, ancient forest and swamp reserve is inaccessible to public.

 

Helvetinjärvi National Park

Helvetinjärvi National Park is a national park in the Pirkanmaa region in Finland. It is located in the municipality of Ruovesi and has an area of 49.8 square kilometres. The park was founded in 1982 and is managed by the Metsähallitus.

 

Hiidenportti National Park

Isojärvi National Park

Isojärvi National Park is a national park in Central Finland. It covers 19 square kilometres and was established in 1982. Its scenery is fluctuating by its level and the vegetation is dominated by Scots pine and Norway spruce forests and bogs.

 

Karkali Strict Nature Reserve

Karkali Strict Nature Reserve is a strict nature reserve located in the Uusimaa region of Finland. This small reserve protects a lush deciduous forest more commonly found in central Europe.

 

Kauhaneva–Pohjankangas National Park

Kurjenrahka National Park

Lauhanvuori National Park

Lauhanvuori National Park is a national park in the Southern Ostrobothnia region of Finland, on the border of Kauhajoki and Isojoki. It was established in 1982 and covers 53 square kilometres.

 

Leivonmäki National Park

Lemmenjoki National Park

Linnansaari National Park

Linnansaari National Park is a national park in the Southern Savonia and Northern Savonia regions of Finland. It lies in the middle of the lake Haukivesi, a part of greater Saimaa.

 

Malla Strict Nature Reserve

Malla Strict Nature Reserve is a strict nature reserve located in Lapland, Finland. The area has been protected since 1916 and was declared a strict nature reserve in 1938. It encompasses 30 square kilometres and is managed by Metla.

 

Maltio Strict Nature Reserve

Maltio Strict Nature Reserve is a strict nature reserve located in Lapland, Finland. It has been used f.e. to study the relation of reindeers and predators. At Maltio is lot of bird species.

 

Oulanka National Park

Oulanka National Park is a national park in the Northern Ostrobothnia and Lapland regions of Finland, covering 270 square kilometres. The park was established in 1956 and was expanded in 1982 and 1989.

 

Petkeljärvi National Park

Petkeljärvi National Park is a national park in Ilomantsi in the North Karelia region of Finland. It was established in 1956 and covers 6 square kilometres.

 

Repovesi National Park

Repovesi National Park is situated in the municipalities of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, only a few hours north-east of the more populous Helsinki area of southern Finland.  Formerly a site for intensive commercial forestry, the Repovesi area successfully transformed into a pristine national park. Attractions include the Olhavanvuori hill, popular among climbers, and the Kultareitti water taxi route.

 

Riisitunturi National Park

Riisitunturi National Park is a national park in Posio, Finnish Lapland. It was established in 1982 and covers 77 square kilometres. The park is on a mountainous area, and there are also many swamps, especially hillside swamps.

 

Southern Konnevesi National Park

Southern Konnevesi National Park is situated in the Finnish Lakeland on the border of the regions Central Finland and Northern Savonia, in the municipalities of Konnevesi and Rautalampi.
